71Above: 633 W 5th St 71st floor, Los Angeles, CA
Sunsets are one of my favorite things to witness each day so when I can combine sunsets with good food, I know it’s going to be a great night! 71Above is, as the name implies, on the 71st floor of the US Bank Tower, approximately 950 feet above the hustle and bustle of downtown LA.

The atmosphere is upscale and romantic making it the perfect place for date night or a special celebration. As you step into the sleek, modern space, the floor-to-ceiling windows command attention, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the city’s skyline. The view left us speechless! Here’s what you need to know before you go:
Reservations are recommended and a credit card is required
Reservations are made on OpenTable and the credit card won’t be charged unless you are a no show or cancel less than a day in advance.
$98/pp for 3 courses, no a la carte menu available
The menu is seasonal and it was absolutely delicious with a great selection of meat and seafood dishes.
Window seating is not guaranteed
Window seating is not guaranteed but I specifically booked a reservation for 5pm (when they first open) so that we could request an edge table which gave us this beautiful front facing view of LA. I figured if we’re going to spend money on a special occasion, we might as well try to get the best seat too!

Dress code enforced: smart casual
A lot of places mention a dress code but when they actually have a whole section on their website about this, you know they’re probably serious! Hats, baseball hats, shorts, sweatpants, excessively ripped jeans, flip-flops, beach attire, and athletic wear are not permitted.
Give yourself extra time for parking
As an LA resident, I’m sure you’re already used to giving yourself extra time to account for traffic and parking and this is definitely a reservation to give yourself extra time. Parking is available in the US Bank Tower and it’ll take a few extra minutes to check in at the ground floor lobby, take the elevators up, and then check in again at the restaurant. They have a 15 minute grace period and I’m not sure how strictly this is enforced.
