Last summer, I embarked on my first ever cruise: 10 days sailing in the Mediterranean with stops in Italy, Greece, and Turkey. While it was amazing, the truth is 10 days was probably too ambitious for my first cruise as by Day 3, I definitely felt antsy.
Regardless, some of my favorite memories were made around meal time and If you’ve been on a cruise before, you’ve surely experienced the hospitality and above-and-beyond attitude most crew members have. BUT, this post isn’t about last years Mediterranean Cruise but about my second Mediterranean Cruise, this time it was virtual… Let me explain.
Princess Cruises launched a new hidden dining experience called 360 aboard their Discovery and Enchanted Ships. It’s a sensory experience that takes you through the Mediterranean and engages all your senses.
The experience began before we even set foot in the actual 360 dining room. We were greeted with cocktails and had our photos taken before we were given an introduction to the journey we were about to embark on. From there, we were led by a musical trio to a hidden room behind the restaurant.
The experience was created around the idea that memories are in our senses. It’s in the music we hear, the sights, the unique smells, and things we touch and it’s definitely in what we taste.

We “traveled” to Greece, Italy, and Spain and each stop triggered memories for me from my own trip to the Mediterranean. I was surprised during our stop in Italy when the room suddenly smelled like lemons and right on cue, a plate of lemon pasta was placed in front of me. Everything is perfectly timed in this dining experience which is part of what makes it more of a dinner with a show rather than just dinner!
Here’s what the experience looked like in a nutshell:
This was truly one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve ever had. I felt like a grown up kid being able to play while enjoying wine and champagne!
